The Zuni world has six directions
North, South, East, West, Above and Below.
Tradition assigns an animal to each direction as is depicted in this masterful fetish skillfully created by Wilfred Cheama.
North is the Wolf, South is the Badger, East is the Mountain Lion and West is the Bear, Above is the Eagle and Below is the Mole.
Each emerges from the Picasso Marble with its
own personality and character with inlaid turquoise eyes.
This Zuni Fetish measures 1-7/8" high, 3-3/16" wide, and 4-1/4" across.
