Details - clockwise from top: The Loaded Burro Engaging burro is hand carved by the Tarahumara Indians from thick pine bark and comes fully loaded. It stands 3 1/2” high, 5 1/2” long and 2 1/4” wide.
Pierced Pine Needle Basket Pale green long pine needles are expertly woven by Tarahumara Indian women to create the scalloped edge of this small basket, the body of the basked is woven with pierced sides. This delightful miniature basket features the fragrance of the piney woods and measures only 1 1/4” high and 2” across.
Tarahumara Cylindar Drum Bark covered pine was hollowed out then capped at either end with stretched skin anchored with rawhide strips. This picturesque little drum would make the perfect small gift or rustic display accent piece. It measures 4” tall, and 2 1/2” across.
Covered Pine Needle Basket from the Tarahumara Indians The green, cream, and tan pine needle herringbone weave of this attractive covered basket is accented with dark brown pine needles, and opens to the fragrant aroma of the pine forest. Woven by Tarahumara Indian women in Copper Canyon, it makes a perfect container for rings, earrings, or anything small, measuring 2 1/4” high and 4” across.
The Owl and the Pussycat Carved by hand from thick pine bark this charming pair have lots of character. All natural, the Tarahumara use only the contrasting shades from the layers of bark to mark their features. Owl stands 10” tall, is 2 5/8” wide and 1 1/4” thick. Cat is 10 3/4” long, 2 1/4” tall and 1 1/8” thick.
Tarahumara Pottery Jar Tan clay from local sources in the Sierra Madre Mountains is shaped by hand, then painted and pit fired to create this lovely rustic pot. It measures 4” tall and 4” across.
