About the Artist...
Native American sculptor Eddie Morrison, a Cherokee Sculptor of Tahlequah, Oklahoma, specializes in three-dimensional works in wood, stone, and bronze with a contemporary, yet traditional style, creating multiple layers of visual interest and meaning. He graduated from the Institute of American Indian Arts in Santa Fe and studied under the great Apache artist, Allan Houser.
“I consider the natural forms of the wood and stone and believe in letting the material speak for itself and feel that they have their own stories to tell.”
“Besides my own feelings and interpretations, my ideas and themes come from the philosophies of Indians about life, spirituality, respect for life, animals and all that is around us and the Great Creator.”
Eddie Morrison’s sculptures are featured in such public locations as a monument on the Chisholm Trail at the Kansas/Oklahoma border, the Department of Interior Building in Washington DC as well as in permanent collections throughout the country.
Sierra Madre Trading Company is pleased to present works by such a highly esteemed artist.
