Shalako Katsinas have no arms and the masks of these ten-foot figures are carried on poles by their impersonators. Mudhead & Paralyzed Katsina
This pair features a blind mudhead carrying a Tuuhavi (Paralyzed Katsina) in "piggy-back" fashion. While one is blind, the other can see, and while one is paralyzed the other can walk - thus they can help each other hunt and survive. The message here is that there is a role for everyone, no matter their condition. Masterfully created by Henry Fred, of Bacavi, Arizona (3rd Mesa) it measures 12-1/2” tall with base; base is 4” deep and 3-1/4” wide; figure is 4-3/4” deep and 4-3/8” wide.
