The Huichol (pronounced wee-chol) Indians live in the north-central area of the Sierra Madre Occidental Mountains of Mexico.
For centuries they have encoded their spiritual knowledge in symbols and designs made by painstakingly applying one bead or one string at a time to a beeswax & pine sap coated surface to make offerings to the Gods.
They continue the tradition with these highly detailed figures, bowls and yarn paintings using the same methods and designs as their ancestors.
